As if the Melancholia collection wasn’t enough, Powder Perfect has a second release this month with the Lady Is A Vamp collection so if you hesitated on buying before, here are six more fabulous polishes to tempt you.
With My High Heels On is my favourite from this collection – a gorgeous blue toned read creme that honestly could be worn with just one coat. This polish applies super opaque and even, while remaining thin and easy to work with. I only added a second coat to cover slight VNL which I have a ridiculous adversity to. Because this polish is so pigmented, it would be excellent for nail art too. I really like that this polish doesn’t wash out my skintone too much too, most reds are notorious for giving me ghost hands.
Maneater is a dark green toned teal holographic shade that has some beautiful irridescent turquoise glitter hidden away to catch the eye in just the right light. I wore three coats here just because I wanted a bit more glitter on my nails, but it’s perfect with just two coats.
I swooned over Jealousy the second I unpacked it earlier this month. I originally thought this fuschia holo would belong to the Melancholia collection, but either way it’s perfect to me and is bound to get a lot of wear. I really love pink holos, they’re still bright enough that they generally don’t look washed out by the holo particles in the wrong light but they’re dark enough to get that glowing effect too.
Faded Jeans initially made me think of fairy bread with its mix of super fine glitters but on closer inspection, it’s not a random mix of colours at all. This polish has a wicked mix of turquoise, pink, gold and silver fine glitters mixed in a glorious pale grey base. I wore two coats here on all fingers except my pointer where I applied a third coat just to see if there was any difference. The polish dries to a textured finish so expect to need a top coat or two to keep it smoothed out.
I retract my earlier statement, Deceptively Sweet gets joint honours for the title of favourite of the collection. Im always a sucker for lilacs, however in the bottle this one didn’t jump out at me but on the nail it really comes to life. The fine gold shimmer only catches in some light, leaving it to look like a slightly darker purple the rest of the time. I have no idea how it works as Im pretty positive there isn’t any purple glitter in there. This effect stops the polish from looking flat on the nail, while still being muted and refined. Thumbs up all round on this one! As with everything else, I used two coats.
The finally polish of the collection is Boudoir. The name makes me think of lots of dark red velvet and curtains everywhere but the polish is a refreshing medium blue creme with gold flakies and hex glitter as well as fine copper glitter. Despite all the glitter, this is a predominantly creme polish and depending how much glitter you want to see, I would recommend two coats for a sparse coverage or three as I did in these swatches for a denser coverage. Also leave just a little longer than normal between coats to ensure you don’t get any dragging.
This collection is releasing on Thursday 26th June, so you have a few days to plan your purchases. You can check out the full range of polishes here. Even better, you can get a 12% discount from 26th June – 9th July using the code POLISHPROJECT :)
