Swatched: ORLY Secret Society

Along with the Mashed Up collection, I also received two polishes from the new Secret Society collection recently. As the Orly Holiday collection, I had high expectations. Some of my favourite Orly polishes ever came out of last year’s collection (Miss Conduct and Angel Eyes).

Masked Ceremony is a charcoal grey jelly polish loaded with fine silver flakes to give a textured appearance. There are also small silver squares and dark pink hexes in this polish which I had great hopes for when I saw it in the bottle but sadly they got drowned out on the nail by the charcoal jelly a bit in real life. I did try mattifying this polish too but it washed out the whole polish. The polish was opaque in two coats.

Macabre Masquerade is a dominantly blue glitter polish with silver and red glitter mixed in. This reminded me a lot of Angel Eyes which was the same type of colour last year. On its own this polish is quite sheer so I layered it over OPI Unfor-Greta-bly Blue to get it completely opaque. The base colour in this polish has a very strong electric blue tint and drowned out any teal tones to the OPI polish as soon as I added a coat of Macabre Masquerade. To get a dense coverage of glitter, I added two coats of Macabre Masquerade. I really like how the silver glitter appears almost turquoise once it one layer down (if that makes sense?!)

Both polishes are available now for AU$18.95 each from selected pharmacies and salons nation wide, as well as online at in Australia. This collection is due for release in US and Europe in September/October depending on your country.
