Tonight’s post is going to be short on words because it’s already nearly bedtime. It’s been a disaster day that was meant to be dedicating to blogging but thanks to the power being off all morning (which meant no lightbox or internet) not much got done today. I did manage to swatch these three silver toned Shimmer Polishes to show you all though. I found the formula on all three of these a bit thicker than the previous Shimmers that I’ve swatched so some thinner would probably help here.
Lucie has a dominant silver glitter mix, alongside red and iridescent blue glitter. It’s not until you get this on the nail that you really notice the iridescent blue glitter which really evens out the balance between the silver and red glitter (I know that sounds strange, but the silver looks really dominant when you don’t see the blue as well). Two coats are shown here over China Glaze Awaken
Alice is a pure silver glitter mix, featuring varying sizes of silver and holo glitter. This polish is a bit different because it also has a silver shimmer instead of clear base which means that even though I layered this over a silver foil polish, the foil finish is covered up by the shimmer. There is also some silver star glitter in this polish but they’re quite sparce. I only got one star (on my ring nail) which is visible at some angles. I’m not a fan of shape glitter like this, because the stars are so sparce though it would be easy to avoid them entirely if they’re not your thing. Shown here with two coats over Rimmel Your Majesty.
Jennifer was one that I planned to save until last as it’s my namesake polish but really it fitted in with the silver colour grouping. I’d been umming and ahhhing over buying this polish forever, I really wanted a polish with my name on it and seeing as the only other Jennifer I know of is a boring Zoya nude shade this was going to have to be it! Overall this has a pale blue base colour which is really delicate however on closer inspection, you will also find copper, gold, lilac and turquoise glitter in there. Definitely a keeper for me! I layered two coats over China Glaze Sea Spray.
That’s my weekly installment of Shimmer Polishes for you! They are available for US$12 each via their Etsy store and ShimmyShimmer.com and they also offer custom mixed polishes for US$15 each.
