NOTD: Playing with Connect The Dots Again
28 Apr 2012

I’m getting so lazy about taking photos of my manicures…out of the four I’ve worn this week, this is the only one I’ve taken photos of.  I don’t know what is wrong with me.  Sorry everyone!  But I’m so pleased I made the effort to take photos of this one.  I started out with two coats of China Glaze Gothic Lolita (why have I not worn this polish until now??? So pretty all on it’s own), then a coat of Nubar Black Polka Dot (which was far to sparse for my liking, boo), then a coat of Lynnderella Connect The Dots and finally a coat of CND Sapphire Sparkle.  The photos don’t capture the sparkle from Sapphie Sparkle sadly but you can see the colour shift between pink, purple and blue a little bit :)

About the only thing I didn’t like was the sparkle over the larger black glitter.  If I did this again I would probably use a cotton wool bud and polish remover to take it off the larger pieces of glitter to increase the contrast.

This also gave me a chance to test out my latest investment – a GorillaPod tripod.  For those of you that haven’t heard of these – it’s a small tripod with flexible legs that can be wrapped around almost anything to set it up in awkward locations.  I grabbed the Hybrid version the other day which is designed for cameras up to 1kg (it holds my Canon G12 easily and just about can take my Nikon D40X +18-55mm lens although I don’t think it would work with  the weight of my 55-200mm lens).  Without further ado I give you the swatching photo chair for the lazier than most nail blogger.

I can quite comfortably curl up on the chair and take photos and turn the chair around to get sunlight or shade.  Plus the tripod has a quick release plate and spares are available so if I get another one I can use both my cameras on the tripod without messing around to detach one and attach the other (which I’m definitely too lazy to do).  So there you have it, a little insight into the glamour behind nail blogging – an outdoor chair and a flexi tripod!  The bunny in the background is optional (he is a guest here while my parents are on holiday).  As you can see, the weather is glorious here today so I’m off to play with OPI Pirouette My Whistle and then I’m doing a test run on a birthday cake for my mum’s 50th next week.

Don’t forget, there is still a week to enter my nail polish earrings giveaway!

UPDATE: The cake wasn’t a disaster but it wasn’t exactly cooked all the way through either…the recipe said it should still seem uncooked in the middle when it came out of the oven…apparently my interpretation was it’s just about cooked around the edges, this should blatantly come out of the oven right now.
