After a month of waiting, my picks from the OPI Nicki Minaj and Holland collections arrived the other day (much to my relief) so I’ve spent the last few evenings playing around with them. Between these and my most recent China Glaze purchases (haul post coming soon…) my coffee table is covered in polishes and I have a feeling I won’t need to make any new purchases for a while!
I put on OPI Dutch Ya Just Love OPI the other day which is a dark dusty red toned purple with a subtle coppery shimmer. Honestly I’m completely disappointed, I can hardly see the shimmer on my nails at all. It looks divine in other swatches so not sure if my bottle is dud, but on my nails it just looks like a really murky muddy purple. But never fear, I rescued it with a bit of late night stamping which has bought it a day or two on my nails.
I had originally planned to use one my China Glaze Romantique polishes for stamping but apparently I don’t have the coppery one (Delight?) so I settled for Sally Hansen Hard As Nails in Mystery. This is an old Hard As Nails polish in the old style bottle – I think I’ve had it for about four years. It’s a little thin for stamping so you have to get the angle right to see the pattern distinctly. I used a design from BundleMonster plate BM-212 and now I think this manicure has quite a nice autumnal feeling to it which is perfectly fitting as it’s definitely starting to get cooler here.
Sorry for the reflections, this was the best photo I could get – I think you get the idea. If you look at my index finger you can see that the purple shines through the copper at an angle which gives the stamping a slight copper – pink duochrome which I like. It’s most obvious in low light but I gave up on getting a good photo of that, couldn’t hold my hand still enough to get a non blurry photo!
Hopefully all my new purchases will give me some inspiration as I feel like I’m in a bit of a nail rut at the moment. I’m bored of all my stamping plates but I’m bored of plain nails too. Tough life I know! I’m looking for some new stamping plates but nothing is grabbing my attention, I’ve been musing over the Red Angel ones for a while but I don’t like the strange half half combo full nail designs (that will make sense if you’ve seen them). Any other recommendations? I have all the Konad plates I like and both sets of BundleMonster plates.
