I had planned to post some nail art today but with a bit of fate intervention, instead I have China Glaze FYI for you today – one of the holographic polishes from the OMG collection. Just to give you the back story quickly – I went to my local nail supplies store to try and get some polishes from the Electropop collection but they still didn’t have them (they’re highly unreliable with when they get new products in but they’re cheap so I put up with it.) Not wanting to walk out empty handed I mused around a bit and grabbed a couple of bottles of base coat. They nearly always have OMG polishes in stock but honestly I thought I had all the ones I wanted so I never look at them. I was looking through a mixed box of random polishes and stumbled on a lone bottle of FYI – away from all the other polishes it looked far more cool and neutral rather than gold as I had previously thought so I snapped it up and I love it! I’m still on my neutral colour kick (cannot wait to get OPI Did You Ear About Van Gogh….watching the post box like a hawk right now!) so this is perfection in a bottle to me. On with the photos now.
In the shade it’s a lovely cool shade of pale tan, it reminds me a lot of sand at the beach (depending on where you go to the beach!) It made my fingers look quite red in these photos but in real life it’s exceptionally flattering and clean looking.
Of course in the sunlight it lights up like a christmas tree! I don’t find the linear holo effect as strong as some of the brighter colours but it’s definitely still there. It also shows through beautifully under fluorescent and halogen lighting – I was admiring it while folding my laundry this morning. The only downside to this polish is it’s much more sheer than the other OMG polishes I own. I had to go with four coats to get full opacity and there is still some VNL in some lights.
That’s all for now folks. I will have some nail art coming up next, I swear! I won an award at work the other day and there will inevitably be photos taken next week so I want to have pretty nails to show off while holding the award! Hope everyone is having a lovely weekend. We’re celebrating Valentine’s Day today so we’re off to see to Gold Class (fancy movie theatre) to see Safe House and then I have every intention of indulging in some form of chocolate at the chocolate cafe afterwards!
