Now this is much better than my last effort – I’ve been wearing this one for a few days rather than the few hours my Australia Day mani lasted! A few weeks ago I picked up a set of 15 craft scissors at Costco that have different patterned blades and ever since I’ve wanted to use them to cut some tape for a manicure (yes I’m obsessed now I’ve mastered it!), today I finally got around to testing out a pair.
First I painted OPI Dim Sum Plum on my pinky and ring fingers and A England Galahad on my thumb, index and middle fingers. I then used a set of my craft scissors with a wavy pattern blade to mask areas off on my ring and thumb nails and painted them using OPI Alpine Snow to divide the areas where the two colours met. Finally I used a dotting tool to use the opposite colour to dot a pattern into the white area on each nail and “blend” the two colours. I inverted the entire pattern on my other hand so the colours would flow across the two hands.
This could work well with any colour combination – it could be done more subtly by using two shades of the same colour or given more drama by swapping the white for black. Personally I’ve just been dying to have a manicure that used Dim Sum Plum and a teal or bright blue polish for forever and I finally got around to it! I’m off to slap on some more of my age defying hand cream now, my poor pinky finger looks like it could shrivel up entirely at minute!

I love this!
