China Glaze Ring in the Red
Top 10 of 2011 – Part 1
27 Dec 2011

Ive been musing a top 10 of 2011 series for a while, but I mused too long and now I don’t have 10 days left of 2011 so I’ve broken it up into 4 parts instead.  My only criteria for this was that the polish was released in 2011.  Most of the polishes naturally grouped themselves together, so these aren’t in any particular order (except #1).  So without further ado, here is part 1, which I like to think of as the misfits:

The Neutral: OPI Skull and Glossbones

This is my kind of neutral – cool, grey toned beige aka greige. The formula is gorgeous although it does take 3 coats for full opacity.  It’s also the only creme on my top 10 list which makes it a high honour.

The Turquoise: Ulta3 Pacific Fever

I always forget I have this polish.  Ulta3 is an Australian drugstore brand that goes for $2-$2.50 a bottle.  Pacific Fever is a lovely turquoise with pale blue shimmer.  Again this is 3 coats although I only really needed 2. A gorgeous summer shade.

The Red: China Glaze Ring in the Red

This is a very recent addition to my collection from the China Glaze Holiday collection.  I picked a slightly out of focus photo on purpose for this one because let’s face it, glitter just looks better that way in photos!  I cheated a bit on this, I started with a layer of Zoya Sooki, then 3 coats of Ring in the Red to get the 3D feeling.

Watch out for part 2  tomorrow – it’s all layering polishes and photo heavy!

  1. Your nails are stunning!! Am so jealous!!! Love your pictures and swatches as well!

    • Thanks, it all just comes from a lot of practice. I was so bad when I started (those posts went mysteriously MIA when I moved to a self hosted blog).

  2. I am loving that Ulta3 polish colour. I am so impressed by their quality/price. Can’t wait to see what’s coming next :)
